What is a “Green Wedding?”

When people ask me β€œwhat does it mean to plan a Green Wedding” they kind of have these perplexed looks on their faces as if they are expecting this long and complicated explanation when really, it’s pretty simple!   The simple answer is this: Choosing to plan a green wedding means that you and your partner have made the decision to plan a celebration with a smaller negative impact on the environment. For some couples this means that the invitations are made from 100% pcw or are sent via e-mail to skip waste all together, that they are wearing completely eco-friendly attire, that the bouquets are locally grown without pesticides, that their guests carpool to the venue in electric cars, and that they show up in a horse drawn carriage, that the venue is in one location to lower gas emissions, that the dinner is locally sourced, organic, and vegan, that there is little to no waste at the end of the evening (and the waste that is left is recycled and donated) and then …
