Eco Friendly Wedding Vendors Wanted

Calling all Canadian Eco Friendly wedding vendors! As 2016 wraps up I am preparing for the New Year with plans on expanding Eco Bride Project and I am looking for some help from you wonderful Eco Friendly artisans out there! I’ve been in contact with many of you over the past few years offering item highlights to show my followers and now I’d like to take our relationship to the next step (lol)! If you are a vendor who makes/sells eco-friendly products online and you’re intrigued and want to get in touch please leave me your e-mail in the comments below or e-mail me at ecobrideproject@gmail.com and I will send my project proposal. If you’re on board, this is a business opportunity to help us both expand and reach more clientele. The eco-friendly community is wonderful but is still growing (especially in the wedding industry) and I’d live to use our business relationship to reach more people and spread the word. Looking forward to speaking with you all! As always, thank you for reading and …

Eco-Friendly Bridesmaid Gifts

Having your friends stand beside you on your wedding day is truly an honour. These people have been a part of your life (maybe for a lifetime or a short time… doesn’t matter) but these are the people (or person) that you’ve asked to stand with you—so how do you say thank you? The “thank you” aspect of the wedding process is crucial. The “thank you” etiquette as stated by Emily Post’s 18th edition (highly recommend this book for anyone interested in etiquette) the “thank you” should be done in writing and done quickly (Post 630). For the bridal party gift giving timeframe there are typically two times that are traditional to give the gift. The first is on the morning of the wedding while you’re all getting ready together and the second is at the rehearsal dinner where you would give the gift after you toast each of your attendants. Now that you know the importance and the traditional etiquette of the “thank you” you might still be at a loss as to what to …

Tale as Old as Time…

Working with a few new clients this week 🙂 It is such a privilege to learn the backstory of so many friendships—how they met, their favourite stories or favourite songs they share… Taking these histories and making them into a meaningful and special story for my client to deliver back to his or her friend is honestly just so cool if you’re interested in having me write a speech for you please click here). Every story is unique and that uniqueness makes the writing process so exciting. I only wish I could be there when it’s delivered! People ask, “What formula do you use to write these custom speeches?” and this question always makes me laugh because while there certainly is a basic outline to use when writing a speech (people you need to acknowledge, certain special memories to recall, and of course actually toasting the happy couple—you’d be surprised how many people forget this!!), there is no copy-and-paste routine to these speeches—there just can’t be. Once a person hires me, I send my client a …

Shampoo Bar and Organic Soap Review

A few weeks back I was shopping around for some new bath products. Specifically, I wanted to try a shampoo bar. So I started scouring the internet for information and products. As usual, I ended up on Etsy and after a little while of clicking and reading I stumbled across the shop called Glorious Life (I did an interview with the owner Andrea a little over a week ago that you can find here). It can be tricky trying new products and it’s disappointing when they don’t work out. When you invest your money in a product you’re investing your resources into something that you want to add value to your life and when that doesn’t happen it’s discouraging. Shop Setup There are a lot of products to choose from but I found the shop easy to navigate and quickly found what I was looking for.  The product ingredients are clearly listed as well as tips for use and care which I really liked how this information is readily available. The first product in my basket …

6 Eco-Friendly Jewelry Shop Highlights!

For some people finding the right jewelry can mean the difference between liking and loving their wedding attire. But finding the right piece can be tricky. With all the different choices available the decision can be overwhelming (and this added on top of all the other choices you have to make can seem even worse!). However, one easy way to narrow down all those choices is looking for pieces that not only match your style but also compliment your eco-friendly vision. What should you look for? Items that are upcycled from old materials (like vintage pieces being remade into something new) Pieces made from recycled materials Fair/direct trade items Items developed through ethical practices (mining can obliterate landscapes, and creates tons of waste) Developed with low energy or low toxic cost Still feeling overwhelmed? Take a look at these fantastic artists from Etsy whose work embodies what it means to create eco-friendly art: For jewelry made from recycled/upcycled pieces check out: DiBAjewelry on Etsy. The shop’s artist and creator, Dianne says: “I have been recycling my …
